On the afternoon of April 5,2023， French President Emmanuel Macron led a delegation of more than 50 CEOs of French companies to arrive in Beijing, starting his state visit to China. The French business community welcomed Macron's visit to China and is optimistic about the prospect of China-France trade after the COVID-19 pandemic ends.

On the afternoon of April 7, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou and delivered a speech in the gymnasium. A visit to Sun Yat-sen University was conducted for about 90 minutes. More than 1,000 students from Sun Yat-sen University's China-France Nuclear Institute and School of Foreign Languages attended the exchange and asked questions to Macron. During the meeting, he shook hands with students, held a meeting with Chinese youth, made a short speech and answered questions. In 2010, Sun Yat-sen University cooperated with the French government to establish the China-France Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology. 

In his speech, Macron said he hopes young people can work together to tackle the challenges of today's world, including climate change, biodiversity, science and technology. "The challenges of today's economic growth, especially decarbonization, are very big, and it is very important for young students to meet the challenges through research and innovation." He mentioned that the China-France School of Nuclear Engineering and Technology at Sun Yat-sen University has carried out a lot of related work to this end.

Macron said that China and France need to understand each other and move forward not only through diplomatic and economic relations, but also through academic and educational exchanges and mutual understanding. "We welcome more young students to learn French, and hope that young French people will have the same enthusiasm for Chinese culture, civilization and language."
